Serving

One of the hallmarks of the St Luke’s is our commitment to serving.  It’s part of the miracle of discovering our own potential to care for others – to go where others cannot or will not.  When we serve, our lives begin to bless others and as a congregation when we serve, we become the blessing both within the church and within the community.

Serving the greater community

Music Live

Music Live with Lunch is a musical, food, and social outreach to the Peninsula community at large.  In the past there have been many different types of music and performers with many of the concerts featuring well known members of the local musical community.   All of the performers donate their time and talents.

The third Tuesday of every month, September through May, except December, Music Live is held from 12 noon to 12:30 in the church, followed by a delicious hot luncheon.  Members of the St Luke’s community in the licensed kitchen prepare and serve lunch to between 70 and 120 concert goers.  Net proceeds from ticket sale are distributed through St Luke’s Outreach.

Noisy Can Sunday
Every month that has a 5th Sunday is designated as Noisy Can Sunday.  This in-gathering of “noisy coins” (and, of course, whisper coins – cash) is designated to help meet the needs of our local community by supporting those organizations serving others – the Sequim Food Bank, The Dungeness Valley Health and Wellness Clinic, Volunteers in Medicine in the Olympics.

Food Bank Sundayfood bag Sunday, 3-2014
The second Sunday of each month we collect food for the Sequim Food Bank.  The cloth bags hanging on the ends of the pews are to take home, fill with cans and boxes of food to share with those who are living on the margins.
