One of the hallmarks of the St Luke’s is our commitment to serving. It’s part of the miracle of discovering our own potential to care for others – to go where others cannot or will not. When we serve, our lives begin to bless others and as a congregation when we serve, we become the blessing both within the church and within the community.
Serving the greater community
Each Saturday, St Luke’s and 4 other Sequim churches provide a hot meal for any in the Sequim community who are hungry. Additionally, each meal recipient also takes away a brown bag meal for another time. Celebrating 12 years of feeding the community, Light Lunch has come a long way from feeding 3 or 4 hungry folks the first year. (More + Pictures)
Monthly concerts featuring a wide variety of Peninsula musicians and lunch with net proceeds earmarked for local outreach. (More)
Celebrated its one year anniversary Wednesday January 25, 2017!!!! Each Wednesday a free soup and salad lunch is served to the community. All are welcome!
Noisy Can Sunday
Every month that has a 5th Sunday is designated as Noisy Can Sunday. This in-gathering of “noisy coins” (and, of course, cash) is designated to help meet the needs of places in Sequim that serve the community (such as the Sequim Food Bank, or The Dungeness Valley Health and Wellness Clinic).
Food Bank Sunday
The second Sunday of each month we collect food for the Sequim Food Bank. The cloth bags hanging on the ends of the pews are to take home, fill with cans and boxes of food to share with those who are living on the margins.
